Confronting Abuse in the Archdiocese of Houston

Confronting Abuse in the Archdiocese of Houston

In mid-September our client, a 37-year-old professional man, was reading the news on his cell phone when a photograph of Father Manuel La Rosa-Lopez flashed onto the screen. There, accused of sexually assaulting two victims, was the man whose behavior he had warned church authorities about 24 years ago.

In the mid-1990s, our client was a 13-year-old altar boy in a Southeastern Houston parish where La Rosa-Lopez was a seminarian. At that time, the youth told his family and with parents informed a supervisory priest about the inappropriate conduct of La Rosa-Lopez. But the teen’s complaints apparently fell on deaf ears. La Rosa-Lopez went on to be ordained, and now he faces multiple charges of sexual abuse.

Our client is represented by Senior Counsel Adam Dinnell, who has spoken publicly on his behalf.
