At Schiffer Hicks Johnson, diversity and inclusion are cornerstones of our philosophy.
We are committed to creating a firm culture that inspires diverse professionals to produce their best work. We’re proud that more than one-third of our senior lawyers are women, far exceeding the Houston average of 19 percent (NALP) and the nationwide average of 22 percent (ABA). To formalize our support of gender equity within the legal profession, we have signed the Houston Bar Association’s 2021 Gender Fairness Commitment Statement, which asks law firms to implement concrete policies and practices that interrupt bias and promote gender diversity at all levels. Our team also includes members of the LGBTQ community and people from a broad range of underrepresented backgrounds.
As part of our dedication to increasing diversity within the industry, we offer two-weeklong summer fellowships to 1Ls from historically excluded backgrounds. The fellowship includes a $10,000 stipend as well as lodging in Houston.
The varied perspectives and life experiences we bring to the table—which reflect the breadth of our global clientele—allow us to “think outside the box” and develop creative solutions to pressing legal challenges. We also live out our values every day in the office. Our lawyers and staff enjoy a collegial, respectful work environment, where all voices are heard and all contributions valued equally.
